For the Newbie Like Me

So during lunch the other day, I went to my local CVS to peruse the make-up aisle ( I admitted to having an addiction) to see what goodies I could find.  I cam across a few good ones that I had to snatch up.

The first thing I came across was the dual headed eyeshadow brush from Essence of Beauty ($6.99).  The thick end is great for applying e/s over the whole lid, and holds on to the make-up pretty well considering the price.  The other end is OK for adding definition above the lash line.  It wasn't so great for blending.  But oh well! Still like the brush for its price.

My second score is a 2 Look Palette w/8 colors from Wet n' Wild ($4.99).  The cool thing about this palette is that for the beginner like myself, embedded into the e/s itself are instructions that tell you where to apply each color. I thought why can't every e/s have instructions like this?  Life would be so much easier.  But I digress!  One look is for day and the other is for night with a lot of sparkle.  Sooo cute!

Once I charge my camera I'll take pics of both looks.  They actually came out very cute!

Go Me!

Storage Options Are A Must!!!

I am in need of some serious storage overhauling.  It feels that I am being overpowered by my make up.  I am too embarrassed to even post a picture of my make up.  I realize I have an addiction.  One that I do need help with.  I need an organization intervention.  So taking it upon myself, before I get committed, I have been shopping around. Below are a few ideas that are not the typical acrylic container or the glass jar with sand or the Sephora beads (don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with those.  I actually like them).  I love makeup I just don't like seeing it all over the place or when I have guest over I want to have a clean organized look.

What are your more creative, non-traditional make up storage solutions?

Almost there

Friday I went for my bi-weekly therapy session, with my beautician.  When I walked in I sat down and quietly waited my turn.  In the process of waiting there was a make-up session going on.  I couldn't help but look in awe and amazement at what was taking place.  The lady was very skilled and knowledgeable about her talents.  When my turn came to start my therapy session I asked my beautician about her make-up regiment.  She gave me some great pointers one that I had heard about and wanted to try but was a little intimidated by.

I rushed after my appointment to Sephora to find this tool to give me flawless foundation coverage.

This is what I had been looking for.  I felt as though I was officially stepping my game up.  I know I may be late but to me this was a big deal.  The Sephora Pro Stippling Brush #44 is a treat to use and is easy to blend with.  What was I afraid of?  The price point for this is a bit steep but I am sure I will get more bang for my buck.  At $35 I'm sure there are comparable brushes with the same quality and a better value.  But for me, I love it.

If you have tried this brush please let me know what you think.  Do you have any tools or techniques to pass on to an aspiring make-up lover?

Thanks

Reach for the Sky!!!

Yesterday I was determined to make my way on over to Sephora after work.  I knew what I wanted and knew where it was placed in the store (yes, I know the layout of my local Sephora). When I arrived I walked around picked up a few things and put a few things back.  I finally made it over to the Christian Dior section and there it was. DiorShow in 090.  I'd been wanting to try this for so long and finally decided yesterday was the day.

As soon as I got home I went to work.  Taking off all other traces of mascara to ensure the Dior had a clean canvas to work with.  After putting it on and wearing it around the house I must say I LOVE IT!!!

1. No clumpyness
2. Seperates and coats every lash in a single pass
3. Full brush with light-weight handle
4. Price is not too steep - paying for quality (and name)
5. Eyelashes feel light - not weighed down
6. Its Christian Dior what more can I say?

Overall:  It made my lashes look great.  I think I have a new favorite thing in the world!

Lip Smacking Good!

I am on a roll today!  Another one of my favorites: Lip Gloss!  Whom ever the inventor of this wonder drug I bow at your feet.  I thought I would share my three favorite, at this moment, lip glosses/glasses with you.  I am a Scorpio so my mood changes like the winds of San Francisco.  One minute I like nude lips the other I like the pinkest pinks.

At first I was very afraid of going with any palette other then browns, because they were safe.  Now, I have so many different colors of glosses/glasses its a boarderline addiction.  I have to say, and I will say it probably a million more times on this blog, MAC makes some of the best lip glosses/glasses.

MAC Plush Glass in Ample Pink (for our sisters with thinner lips) is a lip plumper with amazing color.  When I tried it I felt the tingle but my lips didn't "plump" which was more then ok.

Also MAC CremeSheen Glass in Right Image is my all time summer favorite.  Im not sure what it is they put in there but my lips look so good when I slide them on.

Another one of my favorites: Avon Super Shock Liquid Lip Shine in Tickled Pink! Who knew that Avon was putting out such awesome lip glosses?  It is also SPF 15 so thats an added bonus.

With my complextion I have learned to experiment with all shades.  My next fascination will be with Reds for the coming fall.  I will keep you all updated.

Please let me know which lip glosses/glasses/shines/staines your in love with.

Welcome!!! The Big Bang Theory

So one of the first things that I love are BANGS!  I just cut my hair (which I must say was a big deal for me) after over 10 or so years, and I love it!!!  You know how they say a small thing can create a big change? Okay I'm not sure who said it but... Well my whole attitude has changed.  I am more outgoing and more willing to make myself happy.  I was already an outgoing person but getting a new hair style made the difference.

My beautician, who I love, made me feel so comfortable before the big snip.  She told me "close your eyes".  "Okay" I said with a slight quiver in my voice.  When I opened them I couldn't believe my eyes.  I not only looked different but I felt different.  Who knew that a little piece of hair could change the way I felt.  Why hadn't I done this sooner?  So glad that I did.  Take a look at what I used to look like and let me know what you think.  Do you have any hair changing experiences you want to share? Feel free!
